I had a random person add me as a friend in facebook – but it wasn’t just some random as I had to do a double-take on what their name was! It had me wondering how the hell could I add myself as a friend to…. myself?
Because it turns out – this stranger has the same name as me!
Then I thought “how many others are out there? so I searched and added quite a few… the picture here is pretty much the result on my profile page:

An old Italian man lived alone in the country. He wanted to dig his
tomato garden, but it was very hard work as the ground was hard.
His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man
wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament.
Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty badly because it looks like I won’t be able to plant
my tomato garden this year. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a
garden plot.
I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would be
happy to dig the plot for me.
Love, Dad
A few days later he received a letter from his son.
Dear Dad,
Don’t dig up that garden. That’s where I buried the bodies.
Love, Vinnie
At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up
the entire area without finding any bodies.
They apologized to the old man and left. That same day the old man
received another letter from his son.
Dear Dad,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That’s the best I could do under the
circumstances.
Love you, Vinnie

This one I found to be an interesting twist:
Subject: Where is that picture
Hey You
Im tried to attach a picture to this email
Im not sure if I did it correctly
If you dont see it please Email me at[email address removed]and I will retry right away Maybe we can Chat sometime![]()
It was the email addresses that gave away the fact it was a spam email trying to harvest my email address. Usually most spam I get has some picture that has various adjustments to make it had to single out repeat spam pictures. And many references to drugs, finance offers, etc…
I wonder how many people would fall for this one?

As a revisit of the Sunday drive my friend and I did a week before – my friend decided to head out again – this time with another friend (the idea was beginning to get popular that our other buddies expressed an interest in joining in). This second occasion I couldn’t attend but I got to hear all about it…
They left in two cars just like last time – but came back in one. The poor little Toyota Yaris took an unexpected slide off the side of a cliff!

Luckily nobody got hurt – however the car itself will need to wait a few days for the towing service to drag it back up the slope.

From the photos I’ve been given – the car seems to have mostly survived in shape – however later analysis will need to determine it’s fate.

The impact was at low speed so it wasn’t enough to trigger the airbags. Looks like it might only require a little panel-beating to solve most of the damage.
My friends had some extra dramas on the way back to civilization – the remaining car (an old Ford Meteor) busted a tyre and the spare wasn’t fully inflated thus forcing them into a long slow roll to the nearest service station to pump up the tyre.
*** UPDATE ***
My friend tells me the Yaris has been towed and assessed and it is declared a write-off.

Narromine Shire Council is exploring the feasibility of restoring a Fowler B6 Steam Road Locomotive formally owned by Timbrebongie Shire Council.
The engine was used to construct roads in the shire, and was one of the last of its type to be manufactured by the famous English firm John Fowler & Co, in 1925.
It is understood the Hamblin family of ‘Avoca’ Narromine donated the engine to the council in the 1970s after recognising its links with the shire’s past.
Council has commissioned a conservation management plan for the engine, which will allow a precise estimation of its heritage significance and restoration potential. The plan will hopefully enable heritage funding for restoration of the engine over the next few years.
Plans steaming ahead – Council seeks to restore engine – Local – General – Narromine News
From my old hometown – A big old steam engine that one of my family lines once had possession of.
