Second-Life Names Meme

slimshady

I figured I’d make this post to join the bandwagon for a meme I saw via Google+. started by Strawberry Singh.

Basically it’s a simple little questionnaire about one’s Second-Life identity.

So here goes my version:

  1. What’s your SL name? Mudslinger Ning
  2. What made you choose this name? “Mudslinger was a carryover from a character I had when once playing the online game “Anarchy Online” where my character was a martial artist who didn’t need to weigh his hands down with weapons. The “Ning” surname I picked kinda fitted best at the time because it felt like there was some connection with the “Knights of Ni!” (Monty Python and the Holy Grail)
  3. What’s your SL nickname, or what do most people call you? (if applicable) I am often called “Mud” or “Muddy”
  4. What’s your SL display name? Why do you choose to have one? (if applicable) Muddy – because it now feels simpler and opens more opportunity for new people I meet to not need to say the whole name in conversation.
  5. Do you like your SL name? Yes
  6. If you could change your SL name, what would it be? Right now I don’t want to change it.
  7. What’s the craziest/funniest SL name you’ve ever seen? I have seen so many but one that sticks in my mind is “Whowants Mayo” (which was actually created by a local RL friend) – otherwise just look in the people directory for anyone with the “Sideways” surname and you’ll be giggling for a while…
  8. What’s the coolest (your favourite) SL name you’ve ever seen? Do I really have to pick a favourite? I can’t seem to pick out a specific one…

You can read other people’s responses via the comments on [this link]

And in some recent shenanigans I made this avatar pictured below just for the sake of messing with the name – I don’t really like the guy (apart from a couple of songs) but for some reason I had the urge to create it.

VERA talks again!

Snapshot_018_small

For a while now I’ve been running these robot-controlled avatars going by the name of “VERA”. They had been opearting fine as entertaining chat bots in a couple of my regular places up until recently the pandorabots server that was hosting her chat brain kinda tripped on it’s own power cable.

This left VERA with no chat function for a while. So I parked her over in a corner with with some of the other garbage. While she was there it appeared a fellow friend tried to clean her up by putting her under a shower.Snapshot_018_small

When the services eventually came back it turned out the whole VERA chat account had been lost and had to be recreated. So in short she’s been “reset” back to basics. Although this time I’ve started to tweak some nuggets of her knowledge a little so some of the regulars who pester her might get some different results this time.

Let’s see how she develops this time…

I found a cool pic the other day:

COMMISSION – ALLISON ANDREWS by *IDarkShadowI on deviantART

I liked it so much that I felt an urge to simulate the appearance a bit using readily available resources in Second Life on one of my main avatar characters.
It’s not a perfect match but meh – it’s close enough to make me happy…

Flux Pony v2

After the initial creation of my Secondlife Flux Pony.
Someone else got inspired enough to make a working version of the backpack. [link]
So as expected – since my original concept was not a functional one – I upgraded my flux pony!
Oh and it got new goggles for a sleeker effect.

You may see a bit of my pony avvie in action towards the end of this video: http://youtu.be/HZPuB7y8f-I

SecondLife Animal Parade @ Australia

I dropped into an event at one of my regular hangouts. It was a surprise to see this event but I learned that this was from a crowd of people who do the occasional random parade at various locations throughout virtual world of Second Life.

I hoped to get a fair bit of video at the time but I ended up with some recording issues – either way I managed to get some reasonable footage to make up this video.

The event was posted here:

In addition I found that someone else made some video of it and it turned out even more awesome than my video effort of the event!

Mudette 1930′s Style

Mudette 1930′s Style by *mudslinger-ning on deviantART

An attempt to make an old-fashioned image. SecondLife Screenshot with a little bit of post-processing to make the black & white effect.

Background is a remake of the Sydney Harbor Bridge at the “Australia” land in the Second Life virtual world.

And at this point I’ve decided that the female version of my main avatar “Muddy” is now nicknamed “Mudette”

A Borked SL Avatar

A Borked SL Avatar by *mudslinger-ning on deviantART

Taken a long time ago in a former Second Life area. I found this avatar that had borked – in that the body was there but the owner had logged out. (The glitch at the time prevented some people from logging back in).

This one was originally riding a broom stick – but I thought I’d position my cheetah in place to make it look like she’s riding a pussy through the skies.

The Chicks of Ni

I made this Second life Screenshot with the intention of producing a parody video animation done in a Monty Python like manner. Based loosely on the Holy grail movie references.

This was one of my brainstorming screenshots that I still have a copy of. Kind of proud of the screenshot at least – but still debating over making the video. what do you guys think?

Character Clarification:
Left: one of my main avatar forms “Muddy” – Ocelot (Female)
Middle: my third avatar I made for SL for testing purposes – usually human female and freebie parts.
Right: My secondary avatar “Claire” – Cheetah (Female).

The furry avatars are the DSD (Dark Spot Designs) brands (both the ocelot and cheetah) – combined with outfits from Barerose and other random customisations.

Some of the music I have been hooked on lately appear to be a number of tunes from Teddyloid.

Among the various related imagery there seems to be a cartoon series I need to watch called “Panty & Stocking”.

One of the Teddyloid albums features a similar view. It was “that” view that inspired me to create this picture. I could have put more effort into detail but it’s late at night and my brain’s already going “meh”.

Picture taken in Secondlife.

Note: At time of blogging this – the picture had been on DeviantArt for a couple of days already and in that short amount of time it’s become my most popular upload than any of my other uploads to date. Just goes to show that sex sells! (in particular “Feminine Beauty”)

I got featured in the media!

Australian Trader Cover

I got featured in a 2-page article of the November 2012 issue of an in-world Second Life magazine known as “The Australian Trader”.

[Click pic for larger view]

The magazine is available at some Australian based Second Life locations including the Australia Sim – there is a vendor near the main landing area.

My Bronze Armor outfit

My Bronze Armor outfit by *mudslinger-ning on deviantART

Experimenting a little with a couple of features in the Firestorm viewer on Second Life. (these are probably also available in the normal SL viewers as well)

The blurry background and sharp focus on the avatar was using a “depth of field” effect.

The brown sky, light and atmosphere were done by using custom environment settings.

The bronze armor outfit I picked up from a place called barerose.

The background if you’re wondering is the Australia Sim

[EDIT: correction - according to my inventory it's a "Brass Armor" outfit]
